Sue Eldredge/Executive Director has dedicated her career to nonprofit and philanthropic public service, including managing a successful youth development organization for over 20 years. Most recently, she has been a non-profit consultant focused on strategic planning, leadership transitions and scaling for growth. She brings her strengths in change management, collaboration, fundraising and team building to help shepherd an expanding VSMC poised to take on a bigger role for the benefit of its’ members and the larger VSMC community.


Role:
Sue works closely with the Board of Directors and Village leaders to guide VSMC  to a sustainable organizational and leadership structure that ensures the evolution of the organization into a permanent community resource for the growing population of adults aging in place in San Mateo County. She is responsible for strategic organizational development, board engagement and stewardship, fund development, financial oversight, cultivation of community partnerships, and management collaboration with staff to ensure high-quality programs and impactful member and volunteer experiences.

Kaumudi Phanasalkar brings a wealth of experience from her previous career as an Engineering Manager. In this role, she drove innovation, led teams of tech professionals, and specialized in customer-focused solutions. In 2021, after getting COVID-vaccines, she and her husband took a year-long, cross-country road trip in an RV. They hiked national parks, explored areas off-the-beaten path, and connected with friends and family. Since returning, Kaumudi has devoted her time as a hospice volunteer and also provides grief support to children at Kara in Palo Alto. She is passionate about the critical issue of loneliness plaguing people of all walks of life and of all ages. Her desire to spearhead meaningful connections between neighbors led her to the Villages doorstep.

Role:
As Volunteer Manager, Kaumudi will devote energy toward leveraging volunteer engagement by revitalizing the ample pool of volunteers already vetted as well as motivating incoming prospects. Kaumudi is interested in exploring new and creative recruitment strategies. She is aware of the importance of inspiring and cultivating volunteer leadership that will help VSMC grow in interesting and unexpected ways. Kaumudi is joining the organization at an opportune time, ready to support the strategic changes afoot.

Lori Lievore
 

Lori Lievore/Social Events Manager  Lori brings over a decade of experience working with older adults in nonprofit and community-based settings throughout San Mateo County. Her work has centered on creating meaningful opportunities for connection through group facilitation, social programming, and one-on-one support. She is especially skilled at building welcoming environments where people feel comfortable, included, and engaged. In addition to her professional work, Lori is a visual artist who values creativity as a way to foster connection, resilience, and joy within community spaces.


Role:
Lori works hand-in-hand with the Social Events Committee to increase the variety of social events and interest groups available to build broader engagement and community connection among both members and volunteers. She also supports volunteer involvement in social programming and helps expand awareness of VSMC within the community. Her experience leading groups and designing engaging activities contributes to creating inclusive programs that reduce isolation and strengthen connections.

Mo Poxon









 

Maureen “Mo” Poxon/ Communications and Member Services Specialist joins the Villages of San Mateo County after a 40-year career as an elementary and middle school science teacher. She is proud of her decades of service in education where she created a vibrant learning environment in which students felt appreciated and supported, and where they had a blast learning science. In her spare time, Mo volunteers with Moms Demand Action, Vote Forward, and SF Public Works Adopt a Street Program. A newly minted senior herself, Mo is eager to bring her cheerful collaborative style, communication skills, and humor to support Village members, volunteers, and staff.


Role: The “Communications and Member Services Specialist” position is a new role at VSMC. It was added in August, 2025, to meet the increasing demands of our growing and thriving Village community. Mo will manage all dimensions of VSMC communication including the bi-monthly newsletter; volunteer, member, and donor missives; and website content. She will also support the Member Coordinators of our three villages (Sequoia, Mid-Peninsula, and Coastside) in their outreach and member engagement initiatives.

Cathy Conry/
Administrative Manager brings to the Villages of SMC a 21-year career of distinguished military service in the Air Force, Air National Guard, and Navy Reserves. She has also worked as a contractor for the U.S. government in the capacity of an Electrical Engineer as well as holding the position of Project Manager for several Air Force and Navy programs.   Additionally, Cathy has been integrally involved at the planning and project management level in a variety of key infrastructure and transportation projects that include:  Bay Area base closures, Caltrans FasTrak installation, and construction of the San Francisco Airport’s International Terminal.  She has been a resident of California for 40 years, and still counting…


Role:
Cathy has been serving the Village of the Coastside for seven years and has since expanded her purview to include the larger VSMC umbrella for the last 5 years. Her administrative responsibilities and talents are varied and comprehensive and span crucial functions across the organization to include: communications, events/activities support, database maintenance, stewardship of the organization’s Document Library, website design/upkeep, scheduling of member service requests, and background vetting of both staff and volunteers.  Cathy leaves no stone unturned in the administrative arena.

Board of Directors

Patrick Brown/President has worked as a business skills trainer, COO, and in senior management positions in technical publications in the software industry. He serves on the boards of multiple non-profit organizations and brings a comprehensive view of valuable partnership opportunities.  Patrick’s experience enables him to provide valuable insight and guidance necessary to bridge the generation gap and help the Villages better utilize social media and communication platforms.



Dave

Dave McClure/Treasurer  is an experienced leader in both high tech companies and nonprofits as a CEO, CFO and board member. He is one of the founders of Villages of San Mateo County and has served as a board member, treasurer and volunteer from its inception. Dave has witnessed firsthand the importance of a caring community for older adults.

Monika Lee/ Secretary has been a practicing attorney for a private law firm in the Bay Area since 1986 and is a dedicated advocate for the rights of older adults. She served as a volunteer for Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County and now is a member of its board of directors. She is current chair of the Senior Citizen Commission of the City of San Mateo, and also serves on the San Mateo County Commission on Aging.




Randi Kutnewsky
Randi Kutnewsky/ Sequoia Village Chair is retired from a high tech career and she currently volunteers with Villages and Healthy Cities Tutoring. Her leadership has resulted in more effective volunteer service delivery. Randi’s solid organizational skills combined with her innate desire to help others makes her an ideal Village Chair.

Eric Hanson/ Mid-Peninsula Village Chair has shared his leadership experience as well as hands on participation in volunteer orientation, community outreach and multiple essential member services.  Eric is a retired Vice President from Hewlett Packard Laboratories, where he led a research organization that explored and invented new techniques in 3D printing. He is a natural team builder who demonstrates analytical skills, and active listening.



Nancy Nadler Bio

 

Nancy Nadler/ Village of the Coastside Chair retired from Leadership Coaching and Consulting, having over 30 years of Human Resources experience in various high-tech environments. She began her career in education and has non-profit experience in the areas of crisis intervention and conflict resolution. Nancy is an active participant in Village of the Coastside, leading the Events Committee and serving on the VSMC Board. She is also on the Board of Abundant Grace Coastside Worker in Half Moon Bay, and provides coaching, as part of a Volunteer Coaching Program to develop young leaders. Representing the Village, Nancy is also on the steering committee for the Judy Macias Young Leaders Scholarship program.



Suzanne Buckley

 

Suzanne Buckley/ Village of the Coastside Chair has over 30 years of experience in leadership and program development. As Director at Mercy Center Burlingame, she navigated the challenges of generating a robust conference business while offering groundbreaking contemplative programs and sacred space for all.

As a strategic planner, marketing and fundraising specialist, Suzanne served on boards for several organizations prior to leaving the workforce in 2019. Most recently, she served on the board for Thrive Alliance of Non-Profits of San Mateo County for 7 years. Currently, Suzanne is a spiritual director, mentor and creative consultant to ministry organizations and other nonprofits.

A Bay Area native, Suzanne graduated from University of San Francisco with a BS in Human Resources and Organizational Behavior and Master’s in Applied Spirituality. She is the editor of Sacred is the Call – Formation and Transformation in Spiritual Direction Programs (Crossroads 2005), an award-winning book used in seminaries and training programs internationally.




maureen Szostak

Maureen Szostak/ Village of the Coastside Board Member has a strong background in tax and fraud finance. She is a board member for Villages of San Mateo County and Coastside Hope, located in El Granada.  Maureen is very interested assuring that the aging population of the Coastside will have the ability to continue living on the Coastside.  Maureen lives in El Granada with her husband who is a commercial fisherman.

Irene Liana/ Board Member brings 25+ years of experience in human resources management for large corporations and startups. Her passion to encourage others and equip those less fortunate with the tools needed to thrive was expressed through eight years in volunteer management at Bay Area Cancer Connections and three years as Rehab Director for Goodwill Industries. In addition Irene has 12 years of experience as a counselor/psychologist in the Massachusetts public sector.

Scott McMullin/ Board Member is one of the founders of the Villages of San Mateo County and has worked in the development and operations of Villages of San Mateo County across the range of volunteer involvement and service delivery.  Scott’s extensive career as a senior quality assurance manager is reflected in his keen attention to detail and advocacy on behalf of our members. Scott embraces the opportunity to share his boundless energy and wide range of skills with Village members.







 

Marie Violet/ At Large is an Occupational Therapist (retired), specialized in Pediatrics, Sensory Integration ASPO Certified Childbirth Educator (retired) Director of Health & Wellness Department, Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital (retired) Community Volunteer: Friends of the Belmont Library, Villages of San Mateo County, MELP, Belmont Community Foundation, Community Advisory Committee Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital.
