Villages of San Mateo County - Neighbors Helping Neighbors
We are a group of local residents with the goal of helping each other to age in place. We do this by providing access to support services that help people engage in community activities and continue to live independently. We are a membership-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
We started in 2015 as Sequoia Village, serving members in Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City, including Redwood Shores. In late 2016 we launched Mid Peninsula Village to serve the communities of San Mateo, Burlingame and Hillsborough. As we grow we hope to eventually create villages serving other parts of San Mateo County.

Villages operate nationwide. You can connect with a Village in your area through the Village To Village Network.
Apply now! Please fill out our Membership Application and send it to Villages of San Mateo County, P.O. Box 813, San Carlos, CA 94070, or scan and email it to info@villagesofsmc.org.

We Are Looking For An Executive Director

The newly-created positon of Executive Director will have responsibility for maintaining and expanding our operations.

About VSMC: Villages of San Mateo County (VSMC) is a 501(c)(3) ‘hub and spoke’ organization formed to help older residents of San Mateo county age in place. VMSC is the hub organization that currently supports two local Village spokes:

  • Sequoia Village serves residents of Redwood City, Redwood Shores, Belmont and San Carlos
  • Mid Peninsula Village serves residents of Burlingame, Hillsborough and San Mateo

VSMC (and the local Villages) aims to assist seniors and others in finding the services and information they need to remain safe and healthy in their own homes.  In addition, we organize activities outside the home, such as shopping trips, lectures, and social events.

About the Position: This  individual (in consultation with the Board of Directors and volunteer leads) will oversee all VSMC daily operations, including staffing, outreach, and new service development, and also work with the Board on budgeting and fundraising.

This 24 to 30 hour/week position requires working with a wide range of local and regional/national organizations and institutions, and with the diverse members of VSMC and our Villages.

Necessary Qualifications Include: We are looking for candidates with experience managing a small staff, familiarity with nonprofit organizations, a BA/MA in a related social science field, demonstrated project management skills, and a real heart for working with a senior clientele.

For more information: To learn more about VSMC and read a full job description, please go to this following link or visit our Careers tab.

To apply: Please submit a cover letter highlighting how your interests and experiences fit our opening and a copy of your resume; send both to: Careers@VillagesofSMC.org.
